Use the teleporter at landing point to sailing ships rezzers. This page will give you information about the ships sailing habits and their history. This is fun! Experience how a yacht sails, or how to handle a tall ship like an East Indiaman!

The smuggler (SPD scripts )

This ship is a SPD scripted ship by Christine Nyn. This type of ship is used most at the Tessiner sailing battles. All the ships below are for sale on Kitely’s marketplace.

The sailing ship is a medium class 10 guns sailing ship. It offers 3 canons on each broadside(port & starboard) and 2 canons for bow and 2 on stern. This gives you a chance to fire at other ships in all angles. The maneuverability of the ship is excellent. Quick and agile which fits well for its design and its maximum speed is attain by sailing upwind, putting the wind about 40-45 degrees on the bow. (fastest with broad on the port bow winds). Acceleration is excellent provided you can trim your sails properly (meaning setting the offset value within 0-2). As you master the sails trim(offset), adjusting speed either slowing or going faster is a possible because of its quick acceleration or deceleration as needed. Over-all this ship is fun to sail, quick and nimble with good control on speed variations(sail trim adjustment). If you find yourself in a “Sea battle”, it’s more than capable to go toe to toe with another (spd) ship.

History: see https://www.duyfken.com. This little ship sailed all the way from The Netherlands to Indonesia and reached as first European ship Australian shores, long before Captain Cook did. She also served in many battles with the Portugese. As a little yacht , she often guarded bigger fleets and had the task to discover new passages and lands.

Statenjacht Utrecht (Kayaker Magic scripts& SPD scripts)

Statenjacht Utrecht is a mid class ship. This means its size is beween little gunboats and the bigger frigates or galleon’s. It has 3 types of sails, square, jib , and gaff. Having variation in sails type, this ship is able to sail in many different types of circumstances, sailing upwind will go relatively easy when having the gaff in sharp sailing angle. It can be fast, so it’s also a good ship to use for a race, and sailing on narrow channels

History

This ship is sailing RL in the Netherlands and has been rebuilt after 17 th century drawings/ building plan of a similar ship. This ship was not ment to be a war ship, but was mainly used for transportation of officers and merchants ( the elite) of the VOC ( Dutch East Indian Company). It had a lot of ornaments and woodcarving and it was seen as ” the limousine” of the 17 th and 18 th century. It sailed in rivers and channels, but was also seen in sea battles, as a guiding ship, and only in coastal waters. See this website about the RL Statenjacht Utrecht

VOC Batavia East Indiaman (Kayaker Magic scripts)

VOC Batavia is an East Indiaman, a tall ship. This is a very big ship, rigged with only two different sails: nine square sails and one lateen sail on the rear mast. Remarkable are the two square sails on the bow. It’s sailing habits in virtual are very different from the Statenjacht ones. When sailing upwind , one needs to manoeuvre with the lateen sail, so its speed will be low in this situation. Of course a tall ship like this will be also harder to manoeuvre in narrow channels when sailing upwind as well. In some situations, when the squares are rigged sailing upwind , the ship will be sailing backwards! On the other hand , when fully rigged and sailing downwind, she is fast and a beauty! Batavia was built as cargo ship, she has nine cannons on each broadside for protection. In sea battles she can defend herself very well.

Ships specs:

  • Nine broadside cannons each side, three on deck, six below deck
  • Nine square sails , one lateen sail
  • Slow upwind, fast sailing downwind
  • Damage 4000 in configuration card
  • No autorepair allowed on Tessin events
  • Events: ships will be rezzed for captains, no mod config cards in ships.
  • This ship will be used in Tessin tall ship battles.
  • Furnished captains cabin
  • 5 passengers , crew can take over sailing and gunning
  • Avatars can move below deck, space for cargo.

History

Visit the RL ship’s website

VOC Batavia sailed in 1628 from Tessel in the Netherlands to Batavia Indonesia with a valuable cargo and 341 persons ( men, women and children) on board. It shipwrecked on its maiden voyage at the Walibi Islands near the Australian coast, suffering from a violent mutiny, set up by two officers on board. The crew and passengers were able to reach several islands. The mutiny, the survival on the islands, and the rescue of the crew and passengers were written down in the journal of Fransisco Pelsaert, the ships commander, and it’s one of the most horrible stories known in the history of the VOC ( Dutch East Indian Company) Read the full story here.

Sea Eagle Frigate (Kayaker Magic scripts)

The sea Eagle is a frigate and rigged as a clipper. This ship was built for sailing battles, with cannons on deck and having three types of sails , so suitable for fast sailing on different types of waters. Upwind it will sail excellent with only gaff and jib sails rigged, downwind it will have lots of speed fully rigged. As Batavia and Statenjacht were built like their “sisterships ” in RL, this ship has no example in real life and its texturing has a touch of fantasy with grey/ white brown color patterns on the hull and a lost parrot, called Tony, on the cabin. Decorative and a great ship to sail.

Ships specs

  • Six broad side cannons on deck on each side
  • Seven square sails, seven jib sails and one gaff sail
  • Fast , upwind and downwind
  • Damage 2500 in configuration card
  • No autorepair allowed on Tessin events
  • Events: ships will be rezzed for captains, no mod config cards in ships.
  • This ship will be used in Tessin tall ship battles.
  • 4 passengers , crew can take over sailing and gunning

History

Clippers were built in the late 17 th and 18 th century. The sails and the hulls were built for speed: as being tall ships and cargo ships, it was sailed fully rigged even at the most difficult circumstances and it was able to cross long passages very fast. They were generally narrow for their length, small by later 19th century standards, could carry limited bulk freight, and had a large total sail area. Clipper ships were mostly constructed in British and American shipyards, though France, Brazil, the Netherlands and other nations also produced some. Clippers sailed all over the world, primarily on the trade routes between the United Kingdom and its colonies in the east. They had three masts, and many square sails.
